We could've said yes. We didn't. 🫣
Sundays with Anna | Newsletter #53
Hi,
I said no to something today that would've made my life easier. 😅
Not going to lie, it stung a little in the moment. The easy option was right there, and I turned it down anyway.
But it got me thinking about a version of that same "no" we say a lot more often than people realise.
We turn away dropshippers, even the ones who can pay, even when the sale would look great on paper.
I know how that sounds. Turning away money feels backwards for a business.
But here's the honest reason.
Dropshipping stores are built on a completely different model from what we do best: fast, disposable, volume over relationship. And when someone comes to us wanting a store built like that, we're not actually the right fit to help them win.
We build stores meant to last. Ones with a real product, a real brand, something a founder can stand behind in five years, not just this quarter.
So when a dropshipping lead lands on a call with us, we don't just say no and leave it there.
We tell them exactly why. And then we point them somewhere that'll actually serve what they're trying to build, even if that somewhere isn't us.
It's not about being precious. It's about being honest.
Because taking a client we know we can't genuinely help, just because they can pay, isn't good business. It's just short-term revenue wearing a nice outfit.
And long term? That kind of "no" has done more for our reputation than any "yes" ever could.
So, is there a version of this in your own business? Somewhere you say no, even when saying yes would be easier?
Hit reply. I’d genuinely love to hear about it. And if you’re building something real, something you want to stick around for the long haul, let’s chat. That’s exactly the kind of work I love doing.
Big love,
P.S. Turns out the best "no" I've said all year had nothing to do with money at all. 💕
