Lessons from Dad: A Father's Day Special Edition

Daddy.

Dada.

Papa.

Pops.

However you call him, Happy Father’s Day to all the father figures in your life! 🎉

This Father’s Day, I’m feeling nostalgic [first name], so I thought I’d share a little wisdom from my own father, who I lovingly call Daddio.

Here’s a picture of us at our happy place—the beach! 🏖️

To celebrate this special day to all our Dads, today’s newsletter edition is a little bit longer than you usually receive from me but I promise you it will brighten your Sunday.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice he ever gave me is something I practice to this day:

"Think about EVERYTHING for 24 hours before making a decision—big or small."

This wasn’t just a casual rule for him; it was a guiding principle that influenced his entire personal and professional life.

It’s now something I follow, and I want to share why it’s been so impactful.

In Life:

  • Emotional Clarity: When you pause for a day, emotions like anger or excitement can settle, giving you the clarity to make more thoughtful decisions.
  • Perspective and Reflection: Taking time to reflect can reveal new perspectives that weren’t obvious at first. This helps you consider all angles before acting.
  • Prevents Regret: Impulsive decisions can lead to regret. A 24-hour pause helps ensure your choices align with your values and goals.

In Business:

  • Strategic Thinking: Business decisions impact the long-term. A day’s reflection helps you think strategically rather than react to immediate pressures.
  • Due Diligence: It allows time to gather information, consult with others, and perform due diligence, leading to more informed decisions.
  • Risk Management: A pause helps you assess potential risks and prepare for challenges, making your decisions more thoughtful and calculated.
  • Improved Communication: Improving communication helps you explain your decisions clearly and confidently, building trust and credibility with your team, clients, and stakeholders.

This simple 24-hour rule has protected me from unnecessary mistakes and has guided me toward better, more fulfilling outcomes. I’m forever grateful to my Daddio for teaching me this.

As we celebrate the fathers, mentors, and role models who’ve shaped our lives, I hope this lesson resonates with you too.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received from your father? I’d love to hear it—just hit reply and share!

Wishing all the dads out there a wonderful Father’s Day!

Much love,

Anna
