How I Make School Holidays Work: Balancing Business & Family đŸ‘Ș

School holidays are here, and if you’re anything like me, you're probably wondering how to juggle quality time with the kids while still keeping your business running smoothly!
I started my business to create freedom—especially during times like this when I can be fully present with my family.
But trust me, I didn’t always have it figured out.
Finding the right balance took time (and more than a few trials and errors),
but I’ve learned a few things along the way.
Here are the ups and downs I’ve experienced:

The Good Stuff:

  • Flexibility to savor those little moments, like spontaneous playdates and leisurely family breakfasts (or let’s be real, sneaking in little breaks. See photo below 😉).

  • Setting a positive example for my kids—showing them what balance looks like firsthand.
  • No mad morning rush or stressful commutes. My workspace? Just a few steps away!

The Tough Stuff:

  • Endless interruptions—because kids don’t understand “work hours,” right?
  • That nagging feeling of guilt, constantly torn between work tasks and family time.
  • Balancing client calls, work deadlines, and playdates? It requires some serious multitasking (and yes, it can feel overwhelming).

A Few Tips That Helped Me:

  • I’ve created a kid-friendly schedule filled with activities like crafts, games, or their favorite movies to keep them happily occupied while I tackle some important work.
  • A dedicated mini-workspace has worked wonders! My kids know when I’m at my desk with headphones on, it’s “work mode.” Even simple cues like a desk lamp help set those boundaries.
  • Celebrate the small wins! Whether finishing a project or crushing that sales call, I reward myself with some extra snuggle time with my kiddos.
It’s all about finding your rhythm and enjoying both worlds.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where I’ll dive into more tips and share
how I handle the unexpected twists of school holiday life!
At the end of the day, we’re all Supermums—making it work and showing up for both our businesses and families.
Cheers to making it work this school holiday season,
Anna
