What Travelling Keeps Teaching Us

Sundays with Anna | Newsletter #41

Guess what? We're back in the U.S. and reunited with our RV, which the kids affectionately call Whipper! We couldn't be happier about it!

Yup, within the first day, we already had one of those moments.

The kind that doesn’t quite go to plan.

We had a simple schedule mapped out.

Land → get through the airport → grab the car → head straight to where we were staying.

Easy, right?

Except… it didn’t quite happen like that.

The line at immigration took forever.

Everyone was tired.

One of the kids was getting restless.

And at some point, you could feel the mood starting to shift.

You know that moment where everything feels like it’s just about to tip over?

And then something small happened.

We stepped out for a quick break, grabbed snacks, sat down for a few minutes…and suddenly everything felt lighter again.

The kids reset.

We reset.

And just like that, the day moved on.

It’s funny, because this isn’t our first time travelling as a family.

You’d think we’d have it all figured out by now.

But every trip still teaches us the same lesson:

You can prepare for everything, but you still need to adjust in the moment.

I’ve been watching the kids go through that shift, too.

At first, it’s:

“Why is this taking so long?”

“This isn’t how it was supposed to go.”

But then, slowly…

They let it go.

They adapt.

They start enjoying what’s actually happening instead of what they expected to happen.

And honestly, I think I’m learning that right alongside them.

Because, as adults (and especially as founders), we’re so used to trying to make everything go according to plan.

We build timelines.

We optimise.

We try to stay ahead of every possible problem.

And most of the time, that works.

But travel has this way of reminding you that:

Not everything has to be perfect in order for it to be good.

Some of the best parts of this trip so far?

They’ve come from the in-between moments.

The pauses.

The resets.

The unplanned little breaks that end up being the thing everyone remembers.

So that’s the lesson we seem to keep relearning every single time we travel:

Loosen the grip a little.

Adjust when you need to.

And don’t miss what’s right in front of you just because it doesn’t look like the plan.

If things feel a little messy or off-track on your end right now, in business or in life, this might be your reminder, too:

It doesn’t have to go perfectly to be a great success still!

I’d actually love to hear from you on this.

Is there something in your life or business right now that’s working… just not in the way you expected?

Hit reply and let me know.

Anyway, just a small note from this side of the world.

More memories (planned and unplanned) to come. 🥰

Big love,
Anna x
