We stopped doing this on purpose 😅

Sundays with Anna | Newsletter #50

Hey,

Okay, this one's going to sound backwards, but stay with me. 😅

A while back, we stopped doing something everyone told us we should be doing more of.

We stopped responding to every single message the second it came in.

I know. It sounds like a terrible idea for a service business. Fast replies are supposed to be the whole thing, right?

But here's what was actually happening. We were so busy being available that we were never actually present.

Half-typed replies between calls. Answering client messages while distracted mid-thought. Saying yes to things I hadn't even fully read yet.

It felt responsive. It wasn't good.

So we made a call that felt genuinely uncomfortable at the time.

We set windows. Specific times we check and reply to messages, instead of reacting the second something lands.

I braced myself for complaints. For someone to say, you used to reply so fast; what happened?

It never came.

What did come was better replies. Actual thought-out answers instead of rushed ones. Fewer things falling through the cracks because I wasn't juggling six half-finished thoughts at once.

And weirdly? Clients felt more looked after, not less.

Turns out, being fast and being good aren't the same thing. And most of the time, we only think we need instant when what we actually need is intentional.

It made me rethink a bunch of other musts I never questioned either.

So, is there something in your business you've always done that maybe doesn't need to be done the way it always has?

Hit reply; I'd genuinely love to hear what you'd stop if you gave yourself permission to.

Big love,
Anna x

P.S. If untangling stuff like this is something you'd want a second pair of eyes on, I'm always up for a chat. No pressure either way. 💕
