What It Really Takes to Turn Your Side Hustle Into a Full-Time Income (Part 2)
If you’re reading this, you’re probably building something beautiful.
Something that started small — but now has you asking…
Could this be my full-time thing?
Hey there, Anna here!
Last week, I shared Part 1 of my story with you — from sewing baby clothes on the kitchen table to selling out at markets, and eventually moving my business online.
I talked about mindset like treating your side hustle like a real thing before the numbers do, and a whole lot more.
But mindset alone doesn’t pay the bills.
So let’s talk about strategy.
Here’s what I wish I knew earlier and what I help other entrepreneurial mums put in place every day. 👇
Tip #1: Set Up Systems That Run Without You
If everything in your business depends on you… you’ll hit a ceiling fast.
Start simple:
-
Use a project management tool (Asana or Trello) to track tasks and launches
-
Set up automated emails (abandoned cart, post-purchase, welcome flow)
-
Create templates for customer service, social posts, and product launches
💡 Pro Tip: Every time you do something more than twice, systemise it. |
Tip #2: Know Your Numbers (Like a CEO Would)
If you don’t know what you need to earn, how can you build a plan to get there?
Ask yourself:
-
What’s your monthly revenue goal?
-
What are your profit margins after costs?
-
How much do you want to pay yourself?
-
When you know the numbers, you stop guessing and start growing with purpose.
💡 Pro Tip: Look at your numbers weekly, not just at tax time. |
Tip #3: Stop Doing What Doesn’t Serve You
There are things I held onto for too long — because I thought I should.
Like handwriting every thank you card.
Or packing every order myself.
Or creating custom products when I didn’t have time to scale them.
Here’s the truth:
Every “yes” is also a “no” to something else.
So choose what moves the needle.
And permit yourself to stop doing what doesn’t.
💡 Pro Tip: You don’t have to do it all to be legit. |
Tip #4: Plan Like the Full-Time Version of You
Even if you’re only working 10 hours a week right now…
Act like the full-time version of you is already running the show.
→ Block off work hours (even if they’re tiny)
→ Plan your month in themes (content, product drops, backend stuff)
→ Set quarterly revenue goals and review them monthly
Your business doesn’t need more hours — it needs more intention.
💡 Pro Tip: Clarity reduces overwhelm. Planning = peace. |
Tip #5: Get Support (You’re Not Meant to Do This Alone)
I tried to do it all solo, and I paid for it in burnout, mistakes, and lost time.
But you don’t have to.
At House of Cart, we help eCom founders (like you!) transition from hobby mode to full-time income through:
✅ Website + store audits
✅ Shopify store optimisation
✅ App installation + setup
✅ Strategic planning to scale

You don’t need to be further along.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to decide — this matters, and you’re building it on purpose.
So go ahead and start acting like the version of you who’s already running the show.
Because she’s already here.
Big love,
Anna x
